When coming up with an idea for a film always ask yourself – Will I be able to find an actor that suits the characters description?

One of the quickest ways to make your film look amateur is by casting your 17 year old VCE class mate to play the character of the ‘Dad’. I don’t care if he has a suit, briefcase and a layer of talcum powder on his head, covering his bleached blonde hair.

I have seen many VCE Media films that have been let down by using friends as actors. Many actors will work for free. Just make sure you feed them well and don’t waste their time.
