Writing your VCE film Script
When I started coming up with my VCE media film idea, the hardest part was transferring the idea into a workable script.
A workable script is a screenplay that uses basic scriptwriting conventions and that could be transferred into a film production.
AFC (Australian Film Commission), now Screen Australia, developed a simple to understand PDF on ‘Suggested Script Layout‘.
If you are using Microsoft Word to write your script, there is a good chance that you are making life difficult for yourself. Unless you are using a template, you are spending a lot of your time pressing ‘tab’.
As VCE Student is all about making life easier for VCE Media students, here is a tip that will reduce hours in formatting time and let you focus on the more important thing, the story.
“Celtx is the world’s first all-in-one media pre-production system. It replaces ‘paper & binder’ pre-production with a digital approach that’s more complete, simpler to work with, and easier to share.”
Celtx is a fantastic tool in formatting your script. In the past I have used and recommend the software Final Draft. But Celtx has one massive advantage for students, its Free!
